About Madre Mezcal Espadin
An artisanal product from Oaxaca, Mexico, Madre Mezcal Espadin is hand crafted from local water and natural yeast by mezcaleros in open air palanques. Bright, balanced, and earthy, this naturally smoky mezcal is made from Espadin agaves coming from various terroirs. The result is a mezcal of incomparable complexity with a round and full texture that performs outstandingly as a light sipper or as a base in a high-end cocktail.
Madre Mezcal is created at the Garcia Morales Ranch, nestled in the rolling hills of the Oaxacan Sierra. Produced by Jose Garcia Morales and his family and handmade in the hills of San Dionisio, Oaxaca, the family has been cultivating agave on their land in Oaxaca for centuries, creating high quality, small-batch artisanal mezcal.
Madre Mezcal is distilled using a family heirloom copper pot still. These agaves are roasted in an earthen pit, before being fermented with local well-water and wild mountain yeast. Madre has a hint of sweet smoke accentuated by earthy herbal notes of sage, and minerals on the palate, followed by a lingering floral finish.

About Mezcal
Mezcal is a distilled spirit made from roasted agave plants between two days and two weeks, which gives it a distinct smokey flavor.
What scotch is for whisk(e)y, mezcal is for tequila.
It can be made from different types of agave in different parts of Mexico, but most of it (60%) comes from the state of Oaxaca. Mezcal offers a large diversity of flavor profiles and ranges between 40 and 55% ABV.
